Kaidence bolted upright in bed. Sheâd been dreaming, and her screams had woken her. It had been so vivid, which was evident by the knot in her stomach, the shortness of her breath and how extremely horny she felt. She took a minute to compose herself, but the feeling stayed with her. Needing to shake it off, she headed downstairs to get a glass of water.
Jackson stirred. Something had disturbed his sleep. But it wasnât immediately evident what that was, so he lay still and listened for any signs of what it had been. He didnât have to wait long before he heard movement, which forced him into action. It wasnât until he edged out of the bedroom and onto the landing that he saw the light coming from the lower floor. He relaxed, realising that it was Kaidence moving about the kitchen, so he made his way down to her.
âCanât sleep?â he asked, walking into the room and inadvertently startling her.
She covered her heart to try to steady it as she spun to face him. âJesus Jackson!â
âSorry, I didnât mean to scare you.â He smiled.
Her eyes dropped to the floor as she tucked her fringe behind her ear. âItâs okay. I just had a dream that woke me, thatâs all,â she said, instantly cursing herself for her need to be honest.
The fact she couldnât bring herself to make eye contact with him didnât go unnoticed. âWas it a bad dream?â
She shook her head. âQuite the opposite.â
âOh, who was it about?â he asked, already having an inkling.
âPlease, donât make me say it,â she pleaded with a smile.
He laughed. âOh go on, humour me.â
She covered her face with her hand. âDonât. Iâm embarrassed enough.â
He teasingly put his arm around her and tucked her head into his chest. âYou donât need to be embarrassed; weâve all had dreams like that about someone we know.â
She looked up at him. âReally?â
He screwed up his face. âNo, not really. But you almost believed me.â
